Who is Don Shay?

I am a salesman – and proud of it!

I’m also a Canadian Army Veteran who served as a front-line peacekeeper in Bosnia, a retired Master SCUBA Instructor, a former restaurant manager, and through my over 30 years of business experience I have amassed a wealth on knowledge in the areas of Sales, Customer Service, Business Development, Building Partnerships, Leadership and Management Skills Development.

Sales Skills such as Effective Communication, Understanding Personalities, Time Management, Strategic Planning and providing Excellent Customer Service are some of the hallmarks of what I have to offer.

I have shared my years of business experience being a Business Coach and keynote speaker for Rotary International, Extendicare Long Term Care, FedEx, AECON, Safeway, General Mills and many other large organisations.

I have taught many businesses and individuals how to increase their revenue through effective Prospecting, Qualified Lead Generation, Relationship Building, Overcoming Obejctions through to closing and after sales follow up.

The “Sales & Customer Service Guru”

I was given this nickname without even asking!

I had done a keynote speech for a national association of sales professionals and when they published their monthly newsletter I was featured as one of the most popular speakers at the convention. (I didn’t even know they were doing it!) The author referred to me as “Sales & Customer Service Guru – Don Shay” and wrote that my presentation was one of the highlights of their convention!

I showed it to some friends, they liked it and the nickname stuck!

Using the ability to see around the edges, understand different personalities, provide value to customers, understand the nuances of communication, follow up and follow through, pay attention to detail and think of a customer as a relationship and friend for life, not just one sale – have helped me achieve success in my sales career. I am available to work one on one or with groups of sales people – I don’t charge as much as you think I would – mainly because I want others to benefit from my experience and be fair to my clients – after all, I’m trying to sell me to you – in the end it has to be a win-win situation for both of us.
